Through Jesus joy and
hope is in the world.

Catechism of the Catholic Church Lesson 108
Ave Maria series
108 What changed in the
world as a result of the Resurrection?
Because death no longer is the end of everything, joy and
hope came into the world. Now that death
“no longer has dominion” (Romans 6:9 ) over Jesus, it has no more
power over us, either, who belong to Jesus.
[655,
658]
"God has watered our barren land and spent his merciful rain. Now the rivers of life run full for any one to drink." (see hymn: Glory and Praise to Our God, verse 4) …..108
“Anyone who has heard the Easter proclamation can no longer
go around with a tragic expression on his face and lead the humorless existence
of a man who has no hope.” Friedrich
Schiller (1759-1805, German poet and dramatist)
[655, 658]
655 Finally, Christ's Resurrection - and the risen Christ
himself is the principle and source of our future resurrection: "Christ
has been raised from the dead, the first fruits of those who have fallen
asleep. . . For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be
made alive (1 Corinthians 15:20-22)."529 The
risen Christ lives in the hearts of his faithful while they await that
fulfillment . In Christ, Christians "have tasted. . . the powers
of the age to come (Hebrews 6:5)"530 and their lives are swept up by Christ into the heart of
divine life, so that they may "live no longer for themselves but for him
who for their sake died and was raised (2 Corinthians 5:15; compare Colossians 3:1-3)."531 —Catechism of the Catholic Church, Second
Edition
IN BRIEF
658 Christ, "the first-born from the dead" (Colossians 1:18), is the principle of our
own resurrection, even now by the justification of our souls (compare Romans 6:4), and one day by the new
life he will impart to our bodies (compare Romans 8:11). --CCC
